New footpath signs for the safer route to Solsbury Hill

SOLSBURY LANE PROW

Cotswold Warden Rob Kendal, Cheryl Hannan B&NES Public Rights of Way, Catherine McCarthy Batheaston Parish Councillor and Richard Maccabee BPC Clerk met recently to improve safety for walkers on their way up to Little Solsbury Hill. The plan was to get walkers off the dangerous Solsbury Lane section and guide them onto the Public Footpaths leading up to Little Solsbury Hill. This has been achieved by B&NES providing 5 new signs all designed to encourage pedestrians in avoiding this steep, narrow and dangerous section of road.

The Cotswold Wardens always provide an important and excellent service as walkers take to our ancient footpaths, and increasingly so due to COVID. The Wardens are extremely active in our Batheaston location for the benefit of us all in ensuring our matrix of Public Rights of Way are clear and accessible. Rob Kendal and John Bartram are seen above with the new sign on Solsbury Lane.

Thank you to all concerned for a well thought through and positive outcome for our Community.
